Here is a list of scholars already using Mastodon, as well as an easy way to follow many or all of them. Just decide if you want to follow all or only some of the accounts listed below. You are provided with a .csv-file, which you can upload in Mastodon in order to follow all accounts included. Here you can find short instructions on how to do this.

Matrix, like email, is an open standard. You get to choose your provider (=server) and the client you like to use. It gives you encrypted conversations and all the features you know from other messengers.
